ToM+, das einzigartige 2 in 1 Display für den Twizy

kurzes Feedback meinerseits: Bei mir ändert sich die Helligkeit nicht trotz parallel laufenden OVMS.

ok, dann könnte bei mir nur noch das BMS den Unterschied machen, ist ja ein recht frühes.
Mit der jetzigen FW hat Fabio die Verzögerung etwas hochgesetzt, um das zu kaschieren. Das funktioniert nun bei mir und es schaltet nicht mehr ungefragt hin und her.

Muss die Funktion aktiviert werden ?
Das könnte sein, dass es bei mir gar nicht registriert wird, weil ich aufgrund einer älteren Blackbox mit einen USB-Stromerhöhungs-Adapter vonFabio arbeiten muss...

Should the display dim when the low beams are turned on? @Fabio: was that your intention?
Does the function need to be activated?
It could be that it's not registering for me because I have to work with an older black box with a USB power booster adapter from Fabio...

Yes, you have to activate it. It's a function introduced some times ago in ToM's firmware ver 1.45.
Go to "Advanced Info & setttings" of the WebUI.
Here you'll find an option "Disable Auto-dimming".
If flagged auto-dimming will be disbaled. If unflagged, enabled.

habe heute endlich mal Dein super tolles, Display ausprobieren können,

Die Info von den Akku - Zellen, und den Fahr Daten, ist das besste, was ich je gesehen habe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Die geniale Idee, das Display, vor dem bestehenden zu plazieren, kann nicht mehr getoppt werden !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Du solltest Dich unbedingt mit Jack-Jee "zusammen schließen", ihr könntet wirtschaftlich und technisch ein "interessantes Gespann" ergeben, mit großer Zukunft !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been using the ToM+ for about three weeks now, and in that time I drove about 700 km and I would like to say again - I LOVE the thing. Everytime I glance at the display I have this little feeling "my Twizy is simply a little bit better now!".

I want to give the ToM+ it's own internet connection, so I bought one of these cheap 4G wifi hotspots, and in a basic test, just plugged into a power bank, that works:



Important note: if you want to do something like this, too, the ToM+ only has 2.4GHz wifi, so make sure that any solution you choose has 2.4GHz. I have just bought a new phone, and by default 2.4GHz was switched off. That took some troubleshooting why the ToM+ wouldn't talk my phone. But I got it working and it was something I paid attention to when ordering this hotspot.

I have ordered a couple of relay boards, and a 12v/5v power supply, so that the ToM+ can switch the hotspot on when it's booting.

About that booting I have a few questions though. This particular hotspot doesn't appear to boot up very vast. I did a couple of tests, and when I powered up the hotspot up at the moment I saw the "Twizy drive on to the ToM+'s display", the ToM+ wouldn't immediately connect. When the ToM+ did connect during the next attempt (which is every two minutes I believe?) it went fine.

1. Am I correct, does the ToM+ tries to connect to wifi every two minutes? I think I have read that somewhere and it is approximately what I see.
2. When the Twizy is charging, will the ToM+ stay active, keep the external pin high etc?
3. When the Twizy is sitting idle, the ToM+ periodically wakes up, correct? Something like every forty minutes or so? When it wakes up, for how long is it awake? Is it long enough to try to connect to the wifi at least twice?

During driving, I can already see that it will work fine. Even if the hotspot is not up at ToM+ bootup, it'll try two minutes later and there'll be no problem. However, I do would like to know if it will also work well during charging/idle.

As far as I remember 2 minutes is correct.
But this is not reliable to 100%.
I had situations when the wifi scan was cancelled.
But I think in "normal usage sitautation" this doesn`t happens.
And once the wifi scan was successful the connection stays estabilished.

ToM blackbox wakes up whenever trickle charging is started.
So this works only with Gen2 chargers.
In case that you have a Fritz!Box at home, you can check the ToM wifi intervalls and durance while trickle charging in its system logs.
But I suppose this will vary a bit.
And it case that SOC of the driving battery is below 20% (or 15% ?) trickle charging is cancelled.

I have a 2020 Twizy, so I'd guess I have a gen2 charger.

I have nothing to do today so I spent some time watching MQTTexplorer I watched five "events", and I saw this:

* The time between "wake-ups" varies between 37 and 40 minutes
* The "awake time" varies between 2m40s and 4m30s (three out of five were 4m30s). I guess this varies with how much charge the 12V battery requires.

So, if the ToM+ also retries connecting to the wifi every two minutes when it wakes up as a result of a trickle charge, it should work fine with my 4G hotspot.

And it case that SOC of the driving battery is below 20% (or 15% ?) trickle charging is cancelled.

My SoC never gets that low for longer periods, but it is good to know.

I'm first going to get a cheap mobile plan where I cancel every month, and when I've built up the entire system and know it works well, I change it to a really cheap plan with a two-year contract.

Yes, it does.
I'm happy to know you are implementing this setup.
Kepp us informed about the progress.

It'll be a while, because I have to wait for the parts from China. But I'll surely describe the build and (hopefully) how well it works.

Remember that the "wifi connection time" of ToM blackbox is not identical to the durance of the trickle charging.
In case of "2m40s" probably the first attempt to connect to the wifi failed and then the second try was successful.
So in fact trickle charging will probably always last around "4m30s".
But when it works reliable every ~40 minutes with the Fritz!Box, it will work with the wifi hotspot too.
